k.s. took the class i taught last fall. she visited me often during office hours. although she sometimes had difficulty with certain topics and concepts, she would always do her best to work through them and eventually arrive at a strong understanding. midway through the semester, i learned that she was a scrapbook/collage artist. for her final project, she chose to create a collage scapbook based on the racial implication of Zhang Ziyi's body in both Crouching Tiger and Memoirs. i decided to use her love of collaging as my inspiration. in conjunction with my piece for c.s., where i had decided to use found objects, i made a diptych for the two friends.
