ink on paper

j.p. is a performer and scholar. she works on performance art and theater that delve into ideas of self and identity in a socially progressive manner. in my own performance, she has been a very supportive person, giving helpful feedback whenever possible. this year, she orchestrated an event for austin's first night, called "pink." as part of the event, she set up a messaging service where folks could send messages to people in town. the messages were put in a glass vial and delivered by bicycle. the messages were written on pink paper, and contained the single idea of love. in fact, the whole idea of "pink" was centered around love. it was a beautiful extended performance installation. the whole event culminated in the organization's participation in the new years parade. my partner and i watched as the participants processed clad in pink. i couldn't help but create an homage to this cleverly conceived community event. this was my attempt.
